FHRI in partnership with Humanist Institute for Development Co-operation (HIVOS) is implementing a 15 month project aimed at promoting Access to Justice for socially deprived women and children in six selected districts in Uganda, these include: Busia, Kalangala, Sembabule, Kiboga, Kasese and Lira. The project is co-funded by the European Union (EU) under the 9th EDF through the support to Human Rights and Good Governance Program and HIVOS. The activities implemented under this project include baseline surveys, Paralegal Training courses, the conduct of Legal Aid Camps and Radio Talk Shows on issues of Human Rights and Access to Justice.
Baseline surveys were conducted in the six selected districts in Uganda, so as to document the key practical human rights issues and challenges on the ground in the districts in regard to gender based violence with specific reference to women and children.
