Advocacy and Lobbying

OBJECTIVE: Pro-active engagement of state institutions to effect practice change.

The FHRI research reports are used as tools for lobbying for improvement and engagement between state institutions on their human rights practices. Gaps are identified and appropriate stakeholders pro-actively lobbied to effect practice change. These include but not limited to; Parliament, parliamentary committees like the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, Parliamentary Committee on Social Services, Defense and Internal Affairs, the Equal Opportunities Committee, the Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources, Uganda Parliamentary Forum on food security, population and development, the Electoral Commission, the Justice Law and Order Sector institutions, political parties, the Interparty Cooperation (IPC), the Citizens Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU), the media and Development partners. Follow up of recommendations from previous reports are also a key component.
