The Foundation for Human Rights Initiative enjoys a symbiotic relationship with the Media in Uganda. As a strategic partner, the Media-FHRI partnership is best captured in the FHRI mission statement which states inter alia, 'promote the exchange of information and best practices through training, education, research, advocacy and strategic partnership(s).'

On 14th -15th November 2009, the FHRI in conjunction with the East Africa International Criminal Justice Initiative (EAICJI) and the Kenya section of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ-Kenya) held one such programme.

The Media sensitization Workshop was held as a standard activity to create awareness and to build capacities for Media practitioners not only from Uganda but from across the region. FHRI designs such efforts to enhance consumer value through regular sharing reviews for mutual optimum service delivery.

The FHRI has likewise annually joined the media in marking special commemorative occasions such as the World Press Freedom Day and memorials to fallen journalists.

As a key social responsibility, the FHRI has also intervened in cases where state actors have purged on press freedoms in Uganda through draconian restrictions and official persecution including criminal trials against journalists.

The FHRI-Media partnership in Uganda is founded on strong reciprocal values that include institutional transparency and integrity, a commitment to objective impartiality and a universal understanding of its role and responsibility from within Uganda.
