On 15th August 2009, FHRI held its 13th Annual General Meeting at the Human Rights House, Nsambya. Like in the previous years, the annual event provided an invaluable forum for its General Assembly to have an input into the running of the organisation.
Over 100 members attended the meeting including the Board of Trustees, Board of Directors, friends of the organisation, and staff. The Chairperson of the Board of Directors, the Hon. Treasurer and the Executive Director assessed major accomplishments and challenges FHRI faced in the year. Key issues discussed were; 2008 FHRI Audited Accounts and Annual Report; and national issues like the forthcoming general elections 2011.
During the meeting a new Board of Directors was elected at the expiry of the three years term of service for the 2006 – 2008 Board. The Board of Directors for the period 2009 - 2011 stands as follows: Mr. Wycliffe Birungi, Her Worship Stella Maris Amabilis, Mr. James Kizito Mayanja, Mr. Patrick Semwogerere, Her Worship Justine Atukwasa, Mr. Joseph Nkandu, Mr. Celestine Mugisha and Mr. Livingstone Sewanyana. The outgoing Board Members included Ms. Barbara Katende, Mrs. Monica Twesiime Kirya and Dr. Yasin Olum.
The 13th Annual General Meeting registered an increase in its membership subscription as evidenced in the number of life members and friends of the organisation.
